Raiders release WR Jordy Nelson

In shocking news, the Raiders have released veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson, according to reports, despite giving him his roster bonus at the end of the season.

After being released by the Packers last offseason, Nelson signed a two-year, $15 million deal with the Raiders. However, Nelson did not play well in 2018, catching just 63 passes for 739 yards and three touchdowns. Nelson in 33 years old and it was apparent that he was just a shell of his former self.

The Raiders should get some cap relief if Nelson decides to retire, but the exact number has yet to be determined. With the signings of Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, Nelson’s services were no longer needed in Oakland.
