The drama surrounding Antonio Brown continues to build as the Oakland Raiders inch toward the start of the regular season. They just might start it without their star receiver. The possibility of Brown’s suspension looms after he got involved in an altercation with general manager Mike Mayock at the team’s practice facility Thursday.
Earlier in the week, Brown posted a picture on Instagram of a letter sent by Mayock, telling him that he was being fined for missing a walkthrough last week. That led to Mayock storming the field and getting into a shouting match with the four-time All-Pro receiver.
According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Brown used a racial slur during their heated argument, further escalating the altercation. A day later, Brown did not appear at Raiders’ practice, but the team has not yet announced the discipline for their star receiver.
But with just a few days until the home opener against Denver, it appears that Brown will not be on the field. And it’s fair to wonder if Brown will ever suit up for the Raiders given the number of distractions he has caused already this offseason.
