REPORT: Raiders to host FA LB Vontaze Burfict

The Raiders continue to turn over every stone to find help at linebacker. As we expected yesterday, the team now has interest in free agent linebacker Vontaze Burfict, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero:

That didn’t take long: Vontaze Burfict is on his way to visit the #Raiders, sources tell me and @RapSheet. #Bengals cut the veteran LB yesterday and his old DC, Paul Guenther, is in Oakland.

Burfict is one of the most controversial players in the NFL and has racked up fines and suspensions throughout his career. Burfict struggled mightily last season, finishing as Pro Football Focus’ 83rd-ranked linebacker. He started seven games with the team and tallied just 16 solo tackles as his effort diminished by the week.

However, with his former defensive coordinator Paul Guenther on the staff, it’s easy to see why the team is interested.
