REPORT: Raiders set to host Louisiana Tech DE Jaylon Ferguson

One of the more intriguing names entering the NFL Draft is defensive end Jaylon Ferguson from Lousiana Tech. Ferguson is the NCAA’s all-time sack leaders (45) and is third all-time in tackles for a loss (68). He is simply one of the most dominant college players we have ever seen.

However, there are some significant questions surrounding him and his draft stock. The biggest being that he wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine after being convicted of simple battery as a freshman in college.

To make matters worse, Ferguson struggled mightily at his Pro Day, running an 8.08 in the three-cone drill. That was the slowest time by an edge rusher since 2000. There were already questions about how Ferguson’s game would translate to the NFL level, but testing as a below average athlete is awfully concerning.

But there are still teams out there that are interested in Ferguson. One of those teams is the Oakland Raiders, who he will visit in the upcoming days, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

At one time, Ferguson was thought to be a potential pick for the Raiders at the end of the first round. Now, the team is likely just doing due diligence in case he is available much, much later than that. Oakland is going to turn over every stone as they look for pass-rush help, but don’t be surprised if the team decides to pass on Ferguson.
