REPORT: Raiders set to host free agent RB Isaiah Crowell

With Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin still on the free agent market, the Raiders’ depth chart is currently pretty bare. However, the team is taking steps to fix that issue.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the team will visit with former Jets’ running back Isaiah Crowell on Thursday. Crowell was released earlier this offseason after the team signed Le’Veon Bell

Crowell started six games for the Jets last season, averaging an impressive 4.8 yards per carry. He’s actually been quite productive over the last three seasons of his career, averaging over 4.6 yards per carry on 547 attempts. At just the age of 26, he is still one of the more effective backs in the league.

While he doesn’t do a ton in the receiving game, Crowell is a punishing inside runner who could likely be had at a reasonably low price. With the lack of a feature back on the roster, don’t be surprised if the team signs Crowell on a one-year, prove-it deal.
