Report: Raiders RG Gabe Jackson to miss about 8 weeks with MCL injury

Raiders guard Gabe Jackson suffered an MCL injury in his left knee Thursday at training camp, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur. The injury happened during a scrimmage with the Rams in Napa.

Earlier in the day, Jackson was in a tussle with Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. That fight was followed by another one, also involving a Raiders offensive lineman and the Rams defensive front. That time it was Raiders rookie offensive tackle Tyler Roemer that battled LA.

But that had nothing to do with the injury, however. It was a common accident that did Jackson in, according to coach Jon Gruden, via The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Michael Gehlken.

In Jackson’s absence, G Denver Kirkland saw time with the first unit, also according to Gehlken.

This is a big blow to Oakland, especially with left guard already being an issue, with starter Richie Incognito out the first two weeks of the season due to suspension. Jackson knows his team needs him and will do all he can to be back early, however. He’s one of the team’s toughest players, having played with a torn pectoral muscle last season.
