REPORT: Raiders re-sign DT Jonathan Hankins to 2-year deal

A busy weekend for the Raiders has just become busier as the team has reportedly reached an agreement with defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Oakland signed Hankins after the first game of the season and he was surprisingly good for the team last year. Hankins started 14 games for the Raiders as the team’s one-technique. He went on to play 56 percent of the team’s snaps as he filled in for an oft-injured P.J. Hall.

According to Pro Football Focus, Hankins finished the season as the league’s 80th-ranked defender. However his he graded out as one of the best run defenders in the league. At just 26-years old, Hankins is still a force in the middle of the defense.

With Maurice Hurst, P.J. Hall, Justin Ellis, and Hankins, the Raiders have one of the deepest defensive tackle units in the NFL. Expect Hankins to have a big role once again in 2019.
