REPORT: Raiders not interested in signing free-agent DE Jadeveon Clowney

One of the top free agents left on the market is former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney. After being traded away from the Texans before the start of the season, Clowney played 13 games for the Seahawks. He started 11 games, tallying 13 quarterback hits and three sacks.

But despite still being available, it doesn’t appear that the Raiders have any interest, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The Raiders have two young defensive ends they are really excited about in Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby. The coaching staff will want to give both players as many snaps as possible in the 2020 season as they look to continue off their strong rookie seasons.

It’s also noteworthy that the Raiders signed veteran defensive lineman Carl Nassib this offseason and he will likely function as the primary backup for both players. And don’t forget about Arden Key, who is now entering the third year of his NFL career.

Clowney is still one of the best defensive ends in the NFL, but look for him to sign with a team where he can be an instant starter and on a team that is likely to contend for a Super Bowl. Unless the price dramatically drops, don’t expect to see Clowney in the Silver and Black anytime soon.
