Report: President Trump believes NFL season should start on time

As the world of sports continues to be at a standstill because of the coronavirus pandemic, there is the belief that the National Football League will be okay. President Donald Trump had a conference call with the commissioners of most major professional sports leagues on Saturday and, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski, there appears to be a potential target for the return of sports.

According to Schefter, President Trump believes the NFL season should be able to start on time in September. Also, by as early as August, fans could be back in stadiums and arenas to watch games.

The NFL has closed down team facilities but the league has still had free agency and plans to continue with the draft later in April, albeit in a virtual form.

If fans can be back in stadiums by late summer, then teams might be able to get back to work and have offseason programs and training camps.

Some sports could return without fans in attendance.

Obviously, things are constantly in flux as the country navigates the pandemic, but football fans can at least have some hope of a full and relatively normal NFL season.
