With his final days in office, President Donald Trump will reportedly spend some time handing out a prestigious award to Bill Belichick.
The New England Patriots head coach will receive the the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom, on Thursday, according to Politico’s Meredith McGraw.
A spokesperson for the Patriots has yet to comment on the report.
“He’s a very good friend of mine. He’s a winner,” Trump said to Hugh Hewitt in August. “You know, if I ever had a military battle, I’d call up Belichick and say what do you think? What do you think? Give me a couple of ideas.”
Despite missing the playoffs, Belichick continues to win in some capacity.
