Report: Poona Ford suffered calf strain, will be week-to-week

Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Poona Ford suffered a calf strain in Sunday’s Week 1 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and is considered week-to-week, according to a tweet from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

Ford played in 43 snaps for Seattle before exiting with the injury. He recorded two combined tackles, including one for a loss.

Losing Ford for a significant amount of time would be a huge blow to Seattle’s front line. They will already be missing Jarran Reed for five more weeks following a six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Without Reed or Ford, the team will turn to veteran Al Woods and undrafted free agent Bryan Mone to handle the majority of the snaps on the inside.

Seattle could also look to shift Quinton Jefferson, Branden Jackson and/or Rasheem Green onto the interior, or they could try re-signing veteran Earl Mitchell, who they cut earlier this month.

Ford’s status will be updated as more information becomes available.
