Report: Pistons, Magic have discussed Reggie Jackson trade

ESPN.com's Marc Stein is reporting the Detroit Pistons have discussed trading point guard Reggie Jackson to the Orlando Magic.

D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green would be coming back in the proposed deal. Augustin is a former Piston.

"The Pistons and Magic have discussed a trade that would send Reggie Jackson to Orlando for D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green, league sources say," Stein wrote on Twitter.

But wait before you break out the armchair analysis.

The NBA reporter followed up with "not yet clear if talks go past the 'discussion' phase."

Trade rumors have swirled around Jackson, the Pistons' starting point guard, the past few weeks.

Pistons president-coach Stan Van Gundy has said the franchise has had such discussions about every player on the roster. He said that's always the case when you have players other teams want.

"Around the league, every GM is having 10 to 15 discussions a day," Van Gundy said in January after a report surfaced on a Jackson-for-Ricky Rubio swap with Minnesota. "So, did somebody mention any specific trade you have? The answer is probably yes. That doesn't mean it's considered or anything else."

Under the proposed swap with the Magic, the salaries don't match. So there would either be more players involved or a third team involved.

Jackson is in the second year of a 5-year, $80 million deal and is averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 assists. Augustin will have 3 years and nearly $22 million left on his contract after this season, while Green's 1-year, $15 million deal expires at the end of this season.
