Report: Peyton Manning drawing interest for Monday Night Football

As ESPN looks for a replacement following Jason Witten’s return to football, Indianapolis Colts legendary quarterback Peyton Manning is once again drawing interest for the now vacant Monday Night Football gig.

As was the case last year, ESPN will reportedly reach out to Manning to make a “requisite inquiry” gauging his interest in joining the booth, per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

In the near term, ESPN likes the post-Witten base it has with play-by-player Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland, but it will still make the requisite inquiry into Manning, though the expectation is Manning will stay on the sidelines.

Manning will always be a hot commodity for a potential gig in the booth and rightfully so. He’s one of the most intelligent competitors to have played the game while also bringing with him a great personality that would thrive in the booth.

It is likely that Manning won’t be joining ESPN’s booth, but the broadcast will still reportedly gauge the future Hall of Famer’s interest.
