Report: Penn State OT Ryan Bates, WR DeAndre Thompkins sign undrafted free agent deals with Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles will have some Penn State familiarity at their rookie minicamp and two other Nittany Lions will reportedly join Miles Sanders and Shareef Miller with the Philadelphia Eagles as undrafted free agents. Talented offensive lineman Ryan Bates and wide receiver DeAndre Thompkins will join their college teammates in Philadelphia after signing with the Eagles as undrafted free agents.

Bates, an Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.) High School product started 35 college games and was a two-time third-team All-Big Ten honoree.

Thompkins finished his career ranked 21st at Penn State in career receiving yards with 1,245. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a return man during his junior season in 2017. As a sophomore and junior Thompkins had 55 receptions, 883 receiving yards, and four touchdowns in 2016 and 2017, but as a senior, his production dropped, as he only caught 25 passes for 329 yards and two scores, while losing reps to KJ Hamler and Jahan Dotson.
