Report: Pelicans worried about being outbid for Al Horford

With the free agency moratorium period just a hair over 24 hours away, Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that the New Orleans Pelicans hold some level of interest in signing All-Star center Al Horford. However, according to Stein, the Pelicans fear that they may be outbid for the 33-year-old center, who is expected to get a four-year deal worth over $100 million.

Stein previously reported that the Pelicans weren’t the rumored “stealth suitor” for Horford earlier this month, so it makes sense that they feel there will be better offers for him on the open market. The question is: Which team is going to outbid them?

While there is no clear frontrunner right now, the Sacramento Kings are rumored to have serious interest in signing Horford, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. The Philadelphia 76ers have also been linked to Horford, although their interest hinges on the decisions Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris make.

Wherever Horford ends up, it’s becoming less likely that it will be in New Orleans with Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday and Zion Williamson.
