Report: Patriots working towards deal with LB Jamie Collins

The New England Patriots are making progress towards a deal to bring back linebacker Jamie Collins, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

This would be Collins’ third stint with New England. He was with the  organization from 2013-2015, and also was with the Patriots for 2019. In total, he has recorded 328 combined tackles in 102 starts with New England.

Collins recorded 81 tackles and seven sacks in 15 starts for New England. He also recorded three interceptions, as he helped bring explosiveness to the New England linebacking unit.

Playing in eight games for the Detroit Lions this year, he recorded 10 tackles. he was released by the organization on September 28.

Should Collins and New England reach a deal, he would bring depth to a strong linebacker group. With the Patriots still trying to figure out things offensively, additional depth on the other side of the football could be helpful.
