Report: Patriots will sign OL Ted Karras

The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with free agent offensive lineman Ted Karras, according to multiple reports.

‘The news of his pending contract comes in the wake of center David Andrews, New England’s starting center in 2020, expecting to test the free agency market, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Karras spent 2019 as the Patriots’ starting center when Andrews missed the season with blood clots in his lungs. When Andrews was poised to return in 2020, New England let Karras leave in free agency, where he signed with the Miami Dolphins for one year.

Karras has played both guard and center in the NFL, with starts at both positions. If Andrews leaves in free agency, Karras would be the top candidate to start at center, barring another acquisition at the position.
