The New England Patriots will host NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” in Week 1 at Gillette Stadium, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo. The game will play host to the team’s ceremony to celebrate their win in Super Bowl LIII over the Los Angeles Rams. While the time and place of the game have been reported, the Patriots’ opponent has not.
Many hope that the Patriots will play the Cleveland Browns, one of New England’s 13 different opponents for the upcoming season. The Browns made a major splash during the offseason, while bringing in a mass of talent including receiver Odell Beckham. Cleveland could use New England, the defending Super Bowl champions, as a measuring stick.
Other interesting matchup could include Super Bowl rematches with the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles. New England could also battle against two of the best in the AFC last season in the Baltimore Ravens or the the Pittsburgh Steelers.
