Report: Patriots to hire assistant offensive line coach from Youngstown State

The New England Patriots have added former Youngstown State offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo to the coaching staff, according to The Vindicator newspaper, which covers the university.

Bricillo has ties with Patriots defensive end Derek Rivers and practice squad wideout Damoun Patterson from their time at Youngstown State, and he also has hometown ties with John Simon. He will work under Dante Scarnecchia and help coach an offensive line that had an incredible year in 2018.

The Patriots did not have an official offensive line assistant coach, and this hire will give Scarnecchia some help. Bricillo was the offensive line coach for nine years at Youngstown, and he began his coaching career in 2005.

Bill Belichick has lost five assistant coaches from his staff this offseason, and now he is trying to build back up his arsenal.
