Report: Patriots TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will miss some of OTAs

The New England Patriots will be without a new tight end, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, for their first week of organized team activities this week, according to the Boston Herald’s Kevin Duffy. Seferian-Jenkins will be taking an excused absence.

He signed with the team this offseason after starting tight end Rob Gronkowski retired. Seferian-Jenkins is on his fourth team since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

His season ended early with an injury in 2018, and he finished with 11 receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown in five games with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2017, he had 50 catches for 357 yards and a touchdown in 13 games with the New York Jets.

Seferian-Jenkins will join tight ends Benjamin Watson and Matt LaCosse, among others.
