Report: Patriots take top-30 visit with Texas A&M’s Jace Sternberger

The New England Patriots are scheduled for a top-30 visit with Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger, according to Draft Insider’s Jared Tokarz.

New England is allotted 30 visits of this sort with prospects from the 2019 draft class.

The Patriots were seeking talent at tight end before Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement, pursuing tight end Jared Cook in free agency. Surely, Gronkowski’s decision has elevated the importance of bringing in a tight end. While the free agency market has been picked over for talent, the 2019 NFL Draft boasts a handful of supremely talented prospects, including Sternberger, who figures to go in the top four rounds.

Sternberger finished his final year at Texas A&M with 48 receptions for 832 yards and 10 touchdowns. It was his lone year of major production. He also proved a willing blocker, but he may struggle to move NFL-caliber defensemen. He would be a compelling option as a move tight end in New England’s offense.
