The New England Patriots have signed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Seferian-Jenkins has been in the NFL for five seasons and most recently played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is the first piece in place that could help replenish the tight end position, with the NFL draft being another source for New England.
He is a 6-foot-5, 262 pound tight end that is very gifted as a pass catcher and blocker. Unfortunately, he has been prone to injury throughout his NFL career and that led to him playing only five games last season. He’s only been on the field for more than 10 games in a season once in his career, so the Patriots will have to be careful his minutes.
New England now has Seferian-Jenkins, Matt LaCosse, Jacob Hollister, Stephen Anderson and Ryan Izzo on their current roster for tight ends.
