Report: Patriots signing OT Caleb Benenoch with Isaiah Wynn week-to-week

The New England Patriots are signing offensive tackle Caleb Benenoch, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. This signing comes after the Patriots saw both their starting tackles suffer injuries.

Left tackle Isaiah Wynn departed from the Patriots’ Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins with a toe injury, according to Rapoport. That injury has left Wynn with a week-to-week status. Right tackle Marcus Cannon, meanwhile, is dealing with a shoulder injury, which he suffered in Week 1 and had him limited for all of the practices in preparation for Week 2. He warmed up on Sunday, as if trying to play, but was inactive against the Dolphins.

In the stead of Wynn and Cannon on Sunday, the Patriots played Korey Cunningham, who has only been with the team for the month of September, and Marshall Newhouse, who joined the team last week.

Benenoch had interest from multiple teams, but elected to sign with the Patriots, per Rapoport. Benenoch was a Buccaneers’ 2016 fifth-round draft choice. Benenoch started 16 games at right guard in 2018, but was released on Sept. 10.
