Report: Patriots sign TE Eric Tomlinson

The New England Patriots have signed tight end Eric Tomlinson, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Tomlinson was at Patriots practice on Tuesday, according to reporters on the scene.

Tomlinson was among tight ends Ben Watson and Ryan Izzo. Tight end Matt LaCosse, who exited Week 6 with a knee injury, was not present. His injury — coupled with an injury to fullback Jakob Johnson, who is on IR — seems to have necessitated the signings of Watson and Tomlinson.

Tomlinson entered the NFL in 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He has played with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Houston Texans, the New York Jets, the New York Giants and now the Patriots. He has 16 career receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown.
