Report: Patriots sign guard Alex Redmond, center James Ferentz

The New England Patriots are signing guard Alex Redmond, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The team will also re-sign center James Ferentz, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Redmond spent his first four season in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals after going undrafted in 2017. He has played 23 games and started 17. He served a four-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs in 2019 before injuring his biceps at the end of the season. In 2020, he bounced between the Bengals’ 53-man roster and their practice squad.

Ferentz went undrafted in 2014, and has spent time with the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos before sticking with the Patriots from 2017 through 2021.

Redmond and Ferentz join a Patriots offensive line which features likely starters Michael Owenu, David Andrews and Shaq Mason and reserves Ted Karras, William Sherman, Marcus Martin and Najee Toran.

The two additions should add another layer of depth to the competition in the interior.
