Report: Patriots sign DB Sean Davis to practice squad

The New England Patriots are signing defensive back Sean Davis, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Davis has primarily played safety during his NFL career, but has the versatility to play cornerback.

The Patriots will be his fifth team after stints with the Pittsburght Steelers (2016-19, 2020), the Washington Football Team (2020), the Indianapolis Colts (2021) and the Cincinatti Bengals (2021). Davis has 259 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 21 pass deflections, five interceptions and a forced fumble on his career. He entered the NFL as a second-round pick out of Maryland.

Davis joined a Patriots secondary that struggled in Week 5 against the Houston Texans, allowing 312 yards and three touchdowns to rookie quarterback Davis Mills.
