Report: Patriots release special teamer Jordan Richards

The New England Patriots are releasing core special teamer Jordan Richards, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Richards was released after the reported signing of Pro Bowl special teamer Justin Bethel. The Patriots already have a Pro Bowl special teamer in Matthew Slater, and Bethel will dramatically improve the unit.

Richards has spent his fair share of time getting shuffled on and off of New England’s roster. He was released by the team after roster cuts this offseason, but they signed him back on Oct. 2 — he’s played three games with the team since his return.

He was drafted by New England in 2015 and played in 41 games with the Patriots in his career.
