Report: Patriots re-signing WR Demaryius Thomas on one-year deal

The New England Patriots are re-signing veteran wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Patriots shockingly released Thomas on Saturday while they were cutting down to a 53-man roster. Thomas had an exceptional preseason game against the New York Giants — where he caught seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

New England reportedly put rookie wide receiver N’Keal Harry on the injured reserve list, and they swapped him out with another big-bodied receiver in Thomas.

The Patriots’ depth chart at wide receiver now consists of Thomas, Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski and Matthew Slater.
