Report: Patriots, Panthers have interest in QB Teddy Bridgewater

For the first time in 20 years, the New England Patriots in search for their franchise quarterback. Tom Brady announced he’s leaving the organization and it’s time to quickly find his replacement.

The Patriots and Carolina Panthers have interest in New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Bridgewater, 27, has spent five seasons in the league, but missed extensive time with a torn ACL.

He bounced back last season and proved he’s still an asset in the league after Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury for five games. Bridgewater stepped up, won all five games and did it with incredible poise. He threw for 1,384 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions and completed 68 percent of his passes.

The Patriots currently have second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and Cody Kessler in the reserves at quarterback. They re-signed some crucial pieces and seem to be in win-now mode, making it extremely important to bring in an experienced quarterback.

Bridgwater won’t come cheap, but the Patriots will have to move quickly if they want to bring in a valuable starter.
