The New England Patriots have made some changes to titles within their coaching staff.
New England assigned Jedd Fisch, who came to the team from the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, as the quarterbacks coach, according to Albert Breer from SI. Fisch will join offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in preparing the team for a huge shift in the quarterback position for 2020. Fisch spent time with six NFL teams and five collegiate teams, bringing a wealth of experience to New England.
Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham has a lot to learn if he’s going to earn the starting role, and the Patriots could likely draft another young player this season as well — leaving a ton of work for the coaching staff.
Mick Lombardi, who was the assistant quarterbacks coach last season, is shifting to the wide receiver position. Troy Brown spent time last season as the team’s unofficial receivers coach, and it’s unclear who’ll take the primary role out of Brown and Lombardi.
The Patriots haven’t announced the moves officially yet, and typically don’t until roughly a month after the draft.
