Reports: Patriots hosting free agent WRs Maurice Harris, Bruce Ellington

The New England Patriots are hosting former Washington Redskins wide receiver Maurice Harris on Thursday, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. They will also be hosting receiver Bruce Ellington, per ESPN’s Field Yates.

As the Patriots mine for depth at WR, they are hosting both Bruce Ellington and Maurice Harris today, per source. Ellington had 23 catches in 4 games for the Lions last season, while Harris had 28 for the Redskins.

Harris is a 6-foot-3, 201 pound receiver that spent his first three seasons with the Redskins. He started seven games with the team last season, while bringing in 28 receptions for 304 yards. The potential addition of Harris would provide a much needed outside player who could be a crucial target in the red zone.

The Patriots need help at the wide receiver position in 2019 after losing Cordarrelle Patterson and potentially Chris Hogan. Currently, the Patriots wide receiver corps consists of Julian Edelman, Braxton Berrios, Phillip Dorsett and Damoun Patterson.
