Report: Patriots’ COVID tests came back negative, game on track for Monday

The New England Patriots have been one of the team’s most affected by positive COVID tests.

Cam Newton was the original Patriot to contract the virus, leading to a postponed game in Week 4 from midday Sunday to Monday night. Stephon Gilmore was the second Patriot to contract it, and the Patriots’ matchup against the Denver Broncos on midday Sunday had the same postponement.

The Week 5 contest is expected to be played at 5 p.m. ET, but that’s depending on the test results over the weekend. New England got off to a good start on Friday morning by having no positive tests, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Newton’s status is still unknown for the game, but the delay might’ve bought him enough time, since he was asymptomatic.
