Report: Patriots-Broncos moves to Week 6 as COVID-19 spread continues in New England

The New England Patriots’ matchup against the Denver Broncos will move from Week 5 to Week 6 after New England saw yet another player test positive for COVID-19 on Sunday morning. New England and Denver had been slated to play on Sunday at 4:25 p.m., but the NFL briefly moved the game to Monday night before moving it again to Oct. 18, according to ESPN.

Both the Broncos and the Patriots will get a bye this week. The Patriots were supposed to have a bye in Week 6, so from a scheduling standpoint, they won’t have to move any additional games. The Broncos, meanwhile, were supposed to play the Miami Dolphins. That matchup will need rescheduling.

This comes in the wake of New England putting quarterback Cam Newton, cornerback Stephon Gilmore and practice-squad defensive tackle Bill Murray on the Reserve-COVID-19 list. With an unnamed player testing positive on Sunday, we’ll see another player on that list for New England.
