Report: Panthers to build practice field bubble by 2019 preseason

The Carolina Panthers had their normal practice routine interrupted by inclement weather several times this past season. Their record in the games following those disruptions was not good. Things came to a head when the team was forced to practice in a ballroom late in the season. It seems the organization has at last been spurred to do something about it and eliminate what owner David Tepper has called a competitive disadvantage.

Tepper confirmed the franchise would build a bubble over the practice field next to Bank of America Stadium in a conference call last month. Now, we have a timeline. According to a report by Jourdan Rodrigue at the Charlotte Observer, team president Tom Glick has emailed PSL owners about getting a bubble infrastructure in place in time for the 2019 preseason.

Carolina will eventually be moving on to a fancy, state-of-the-art practice facility – that could be several more years down the line, though. For now, Tepper deserves credit for finally addressing an issue that Jerry Richardson inexplicably neglected throughout his time owning the team.
