Report: Panthers QB Cam Newton is throwing again

According to a report by Jourdan Rodrigue at the Charlotte Observer, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has taken the next step in his recovery from shoulder surgery and is throwing overhand again.

Newton’s famously powerful arm has been a source of concern since the last few weeks of the 2016 season. Newton originally injured the shoulder diving for a tackle after throwing an interception against the Chargers.

The procedure that Newton underwent during the winter was described as a minor one, but it was the second time Newton has had to resort to surgery.

Training camp is still the official target return date, but if he’s throwing now there’s a chance he may rejoin his teammates on the practice field sooner.
