Report: Panthers open to trading down from newly acquired No. 1 pick

The Carolina Panthers just made the biggest trade in franchise history . . . and they still might not be done.

On Friday, the team acquired the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft from the Chicago Bears in exchange for four draft picks and star wide receiver DJ Moore. But according to Joe Person of The Athletic, they may not even keep the top prize.

Person reported that the Panthers may move out of the spot if they are comfortable in drafting multiple quarterbacks come April 27.

After the massive deal, Carolina is down one of their 2023 second-round selections (No. 61 overall), their 2024 first-rounder and their 2025 second-rounder. So another swap, this time in the other direction, could help recoup some of that lost capital.

As far as who’d they be content in taking in a move down, the draft is headlined by four first-round passing prospects—Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, Florida’s Anthony Richardson and Kentucky’s Will Levis.
