Report: Panthers met with free agent offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod

With Matt Kalil out of the picture, the Panthers have a need at offensive tackle. Taylor Moton and Daryl Williams project as the team’s starters in 2019, but there’s not much behind them to speak of on the depth chart. With that in mind, Carolina is hosting one free agent who could be a potential fit.

According to a report by Field Yates at ESPN, the Panthers are hosting former Saints offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod.

This past season was Bushrod’s second stint in New Orleans. The Saints picked him in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL draft. After six years, he moved on to the Bears and then the Dolphins before returning to the NFC south in 2018.

All in all, Bushrod has played in 145 career regular season games. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler but the last time was in 2012. Pro Football Focus ranked him No. 59 at the position last season.

If the Panthers sign Bushrod, it would likely be a one or two-year deal with the idea to play him at swing tackle.
