Report: Panthers hosting former Seahawks TE/DE Stephen Sullivan for a visit

The Panthers have their first free agent visit of the Scott Fitterer era lined up.

According to a report by Field Yates at ESPN, the team will host former Seahawk Stephen Sullivan for a visit. Seattle picked him in the seventh round of last year’s NFL draft.

Sullivan (6-foot-5, 248 pounds) played his college ball at LSU, where he was a wide receiver/tight end. In 24 career games with the Tigers, he posted 46 catches, 712 yards and three touchdowns.

After the Seahawks drafted him, he wound up spending most of his rookie season in the NFL on the sidelines. Sullivan only played 22 defensive snaps.

The Seahawks may have seen Sullivan as a defensive end, but it’s more likely Carolina would want him to play tight end. They are relatively loaded on the edge defensively and could use more firepower behind Ian Thomas and Chris Manhertz, who combined for 26 catches, 197 yards and one touchdown.
