Report: Panthers hire former player Everette Brown as assistant linebackers coach

The Carolina Panthers are continuing to overhaul head coach Ron Rivera’s staff for the 2019 season. According to a report by Field Yates at ESPN, the team is hiring former player Everette Brown to be their assistant linebackers coach. He interned with the team last summer.

Brown was actually picked by the 49ers in the second round of the NFL draft that year and was traded to Carolina along with Mike Goodson for Mike Iupati.

A native of Greenville, NC, Brown played two years for the Panthers before moving on to the Chargers, Cowboys and Redskins. In 44 career NFL games, he posted 67 combined tackles, seven sacks and 19 QB hits.

With the team reportedly considering a change to a 3-4 defense, Brown will play a role in helping the linebackers make the adjustment.
