Report: Panthers expect TE Greg Olsen to play tonight vs. Buccaneers

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Buccaneers, but head coach Ron Rivera expects him to play, according to a report by Ed Werder at ESPN.

Olsen missed two days of practice this week with a back injury he suffered Week 1 against the Rams.

It was a slow start to the season for Olsen, who only caught four of nine targets for 36 yards from Cam Newton. In his defense, Newton was inaccurate on several of those throws.

The Panthers might be better off letting Olsen sit this one out and give second-year tight end Ian Thomas a chance to shine instead. Then again, Olsen has done a lot of damage vs. Tampa Bay in his career. His 797 total receiving yards against them are his most against any opponent.
