Report: Panthers bring Ben Jacobs back as special teams assistant

Ben Jacobs is going nowhere, as it turns out. On Monday it was reported that the Panthers released the depth linebacker and special teams contributor after five seasons. Apparently, the plan was to keep him on as he begins a new career in coaching.

According to a report by Joseph Person at the Athletic, Carolina has hired Jacobs as a special teams assistant.

Jacobs went undrafted out of Fresno State. He played in 73 career NFL games, mostly for the Panthers and a handful with the Browns. He posted a total of 22 combined tackles, one pass breakup and two QB hits.
