Report: Panthers agree to terms with first-round pick Brian Burns

According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with first-round pick Brian Burns.

Burns will be expected at Wofford College today in Spartanburg, S.C. as the team reports in for 2019 training camp. The first practice is scheduled for early Thursday evening.

Burns is a speed rusher in the same mold as Mario Addison. At Florida State, he totaled 23 sacks and 38.5 tackles for a loss in 33 games. In addition to his pass-rushing prowess, Burns has a knack for creating turnovers. He forced seven fumbles in college, too.

The main knock on Burns’ game at this point is his size/strength. Coming into the league, he’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. He’ll need to bulk up in order to get past some of the NFL’s stronger offensive tackles, but that should not be too hard after a few months in a pro weight room.
