Report: Packers still in the mix for RB Mark Ingram

The Green Bay Packers might have one last trick up their sleeve on the second day of the NFL’s legal tampering window.

According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, the Packers remain in the mix for free-agent running back Mark Ingram, who is also drawing interest from the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions.

Ingram’s current team, the New Orleans Saints, signed Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray. The Lions also re-signed Zach Zenner, which might take them out of the running for another veteran.

Ingram, 29, spent his first eight seasons with the Saints, rushing for 6,007 yards and 50 touchdowns while also catching 228 passes.

If signed, Ingram would give the Packers a strong and deep stable of running backs capable of handling the workload expected of Matt LaFleur’s new offense.

Last season, Ingram rushed 138 times for 645 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 4.7 yards per carry.

The Packers have been busy Tuesday, signing outside linebackers Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith, safety Adrian Amos and offensive lineman Billy Turner. Adding Ingram would complete one of the biggest days of player acquisition in the recent history of the Packers.
