Report: Packers rookies won’t be reporting to training camp on Tuesday

The rookies of the Green Bay Packers won’t be reporting to training camp on Tuesday, and it’s unclear when they will.

According to Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee, the team’s plans for the start of training camp are now “up in the air,” but Packers rookies won’t be making the scheduled reporting date of July 21, which is Tuesday.

Players and the NFL are continuing the dialogue as the two sides attempt to figure out a way to safely start training camp and the rest of the 2020 season amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Several members of the Packers, including Davante Adams and David Bakhtiari, joined a coordinated social media effort over the weekend pleading with the NFL on social media to implement better safety protocols before the start of camp.

The Packers were among 30 other NFL teams scheduled to have rookies report on July 21 and veterans on July 28.

The Packers have 24 rookies on the roster, including nine draft picks. As of Monday, all but third-round pick Josiah Deguara were under contract.

The team has already announced that fans won’t be able to attend training camp or preseason games this summer.
