Report: Packers really like Baylor WR Denzel Mims

The Green Bay Packers haven’t added a pass-catcher in free agency, but GM Brian Gutekunst will have his eyes on several top-tier receivers available in next month’s draft.

Expect Baylor’s Denzel Mims to be a top target at No. 30 overall.

According to Rob Demovksy of ESPN, the Packers “like him a lot” and have shown interest in him during the pre-draft process.

Mims caught 182 passes and scored 28 touchdowns over his final three seasons at Baylor. He then dominated practices at the Senior Bowl and aced the NFL Scouting Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, finishing the three-cone drill in 6.66 seconds and hitting 38.5″ in the vertical leap and 10-11 in the broad jump at 6-3 and 207 pounds.

Mims might check all the boxes for the Packers. He has elite athleticism, size, collegiate production and a history of making big catches in big situations. He’d give the Packers a potential playmaker behind Davante Adams in the passing game, with an ideal skillset for creating opportunities down the field and in intermediate areas as a perimeter receiver.

Will Mims last to the 30th pick? In Mel Kiper’s most recent mock draft, the Minnesota Vikings took Mims with the 22nd pick. His stock has skyrocketed during the pre-draft process.
