Report: Packers holding workout for LSU RB Nick Brossette

The Green Bay Packers are one of four teams that will hold a private workout with LSU running back Nick Brossette, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Brossette (5-11, 209) played behind Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice early in his collegiate career but handled the majority of touches for LSU as a senior in 2018, carrying 240 times for 1,039 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 78 yards.

Brossette was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, but he turned in a disappointing overall performance. He produced slow times in the 40-yard dash (4.72 seconds), three-cone drill (7.38) and short shuttle (4.44) and had middle-of-the-pack numbers in the explosive drills (35.5″ vertical, 9-10 broad).

He failed to improve his 40 time at the LSU Pro day last month.

Although not an elite athlete or a big-play creator, Brossette showed an ability to run through tackles, protect the football and block in the passing game.

The Packers could see Brossette as a potential option as a late-round pick or priority free agent. GM Brian Gutekunst is likely to add a running back or two, either through the draft or college free agency.
