A large police cordon remained in place across part of the residential street for some time on Thursday night (May 8).

One neighbour told the Manchester Evening News that they believed the police activity related to a shooting in the area.

They reported seeing armed police swooping on the area, adding: “I was sleeping when it happened. It woke me up.

“All I heard was five or six gun shots before dozens of police turned up.”

It is not yet known if anyone was injured during the incident.

The M.E.N has contacted Greater Manchester Police for further details.
