Report: Noel asks for time to re-evaluate his commitment to Thunder

Minutes after ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that he was re-signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency, Nerlens Noel went to his Instagram story and posted a black screen with two question marks.

He later took it down.

Then, exactly three hours after his original tweet, Wojnarowski reported that Noel “has asked OKC for time to re-evaluate their earlier commitment on a new deal, and the sides are continuing discussions.”

No financial information or contract length was ever reported.

Noel had declined his $1.99 player option for this season and was an unrestricted free agent. The Thunder could not offer him more than their $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel exception, writes The Oklahoman.

The 25-year-old Noel enjoyed a solid season as Steven Adams’ backup last season, averaging 4.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in just 13.7 minutes per game.
