Report: No tardiness or issues for Redskins since coaching change

The news cycle surrounding Jay Gruden’s final days as Washington Redskins head coach noted players being late, messing with social media and other laid-back problems.

That doesn’t appear to be the case under interim coach Bill Callahan.

From NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:

Sources say there were three great days of practices, with no players showing up late and no one trickling out of the locker room as the team lined up for stretching. That had not been the case under Gruden.

Fans have heard some of the notes by now. Callahan has stressed accountability. He’s had the team running gassers at the end of practice. He’s even had the first-team offense clashing with the first-team defense.

A new vibe around a team coming out of a massive change at head coach in the middle of the season isn’t uncommon. But all notes from players coming out of the first week have been positive.

Granted, how this outlook seems in a few weeks if the Redskins don’t start winning is muddier to project. But the perceived culture change in Washington, so far, is real.
