Report: NFLPA voted to cancel the preseason

The league has some big decisions to make about the 2020 season over the next month or so and one of the biggest changes could come during the preseason.

While there are already reports that the NFL wants to cut down the preseason to two games rather than four, the NFLPA reportedly unanimously voted to cancel the entire slate of games before the regular season.

On Thursday night’s NFLPA call, the union’s board of reps voted unanimously to recommend that the NFL play no preseason games this year. It’s unclear whether the league, which has already decided to cut the preseason from four games to two, will consider the recommendation.

The NFL has made it clear they are going to do everything they can to get the 2020 season underway on time. Making some major changes to the preseason may be in the cards in order to do that.

This doesn’t mean all that much unless the NFL agrees to do so. The decision is with the league to have as many preseason games as they want—up to four, of course.

It will be an interesting preseason for the league. They could have two games. They could have none. But that decision will be one to keep an eye out for over the next month or so.
